Memory loss is not inevitable

By Leonid Magidenko, MD.
Friday, February 29, 2008

Everybody knows that memory, cognition, and mental acuity slow down when we age. Some may start feeling it as early as in their forties. It affects every aspect of daily life such as learning, professional achievements, and even employment itself. Conventional doctors usually have no answer. They consider age-related memory decline as part of “normal aging”. There are no FDA approved medications for this condition.

Well, we have good news for you. There are a number of vitamins and nutritional supplements, which have been shown by multiple scientific researches, to support healthy memory and brain metabolism.

Let me introduce our innovative product to help people with memory loss. It is called SUNTAMINS “Advanced Memory Formula”. It contains a smart and balanced combination of the following ingredients:

Piracetam (also known as Nootropil) is chemically related to GABA-one of the Brain’s vital neurotransmitters. Multiple studies have revealed the ability of Piracetam to optimize blood flow in the aging brain and, therefore, slow down memory loss, cognition and recovery after stroke. In Europe, Piracetam (Nootropil) has been widely used for a number of years to help people suffering from age-related memory loss, Alzheimer’s disease, and victims of stroke. Piracetam was found to aid patients with alcohol-related memory and brain dysfunctions as well post surgical and post traumatic brain dysfunctions.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine is an acetylated form of the amino acid L-Carnitine. Acetyl-L-Carnitine supplementation has been shown to protect nervous system tissue in instances of brain ischemia, and peripheral nerve damage. It may aid in managing Parkinson's disease. Acetyl-L-Carnitine supplementation has also been shown to reverse signs associated with mental decline and memory loss in aging people. Studies have shown that when Acetyl-L-Carnitine is supplemented along with Alpha Lipoic acid, it appears to reverse some of the age related mitochondrial damage.

Alpha Lipoic Acid is the organic natural compound, which is an essential cofactor for multiple enzyme reactions. One of the most crucial roles of Alpha Lipoic Acid is as a cofactor in Oxygen metabolism, specifically the pyruvate dehydrogenase reaction cascade. Studies have suggested that the use of Acetyl-L-Carnitine and Alpha Lipoic Acid results in enhanced memory performance and delayed structural mitochondrial deterioration. As a result, it may be helpful for people with age-related memory loss, Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's disease.

Choline is chemically related to the B-vitamin group. Although its complete mechanism of action and how it interrelates with other nutrients, is not fully understood, it seems to often work in collaboration with folate and an amino acid methionine. Although the human body can synthesize small amounts of Choline, it is commonly recognized that it is imperative to obtain Choline from the diet as well. Over the past years, there have been a number of researches that suggest Choline may be critical not only for the brain tissue formation of fetuses and infants, but also in the prevention of age-related memory loss.

DMAE (also known as Dimethylaminoethanol) is biochemically related to Choline and is a precursor to the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. It is believed that DMAE is methylated to synthetise Choline in the brain. Studies have shown an increase in alertness and vigilance, as well as favorable influence on mood. Some studies have showed that DMAE may increase the lifespan.

Vinpocetine (also known as Cavinton and Intelectol) is a biochemical derivative of vincamine, which is extracted from the periwinkle plant. It increases cerebral blood flow, and may retard memory loss and enhance various cognitive functions.

Folic acid and folate are biochemical forms of the water-soluble vitamin B9. In a 3-year trial on 818 people over the age of 50, short-term memory, mental agility and verbal fluency were all found to be better among people taking folic acid supplementation. The study was published in The Lancet in January 2007. Also, Folic acid may possibly reduce the risk of stroke.

Vitamin B12 in the active form of Methylcobalamin: Low levels of vitamin B12 are linked to significantly poorer performance on memory and cognition tests. Aging people expressed this effect more dramatically. This finding was published in the Journal of Neuropsychology in 2004. This respected Journal is published by the American Psychological Association (APA).

Essential fatty acid of Omega-3. Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) is an essential fatty acid which is an Omega 3 fat found in cold water fish. To function normally and maintain a youthful level of vitality, the brain requires fatty acids. Studies have shown that countries where people consume diets high in fish have less cases of Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of Dementia than ones with small amounts of fish in their diets. Because of this, the attention to fish oil supplementation and its effect on Alzheimer’s has become common. Researches in Martha Clare Morris of Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago found an impressive 60% reduction of developing Alzheimer’s disease in patients consuming Omega-3 on a regular basis. Similar results have been obtained from two European studies. Researchers have found that the DHA contained in fish oil helps to prevent the formation of plaques in the brain. These are similar plaques that may lead to Alzheimer’s disease. By preventing the buildup of the plaque, one may avoid the progress to Alzheimer’s or other forms of memory loss.

SUNTAMINS "High Potency Omega-3" contains one of the highest concentrations of EPA and DHA available on the market. (EPA 720 Mg and DHA 480 Mg per 2 Capsules).

The Scientific Board of ABCVitaminsLife recommends a combination of these two great products to individuals looking to maintain sharp memory and highly functional brain function for years to come.
