Men's Prostate Health

Benign Prostate Hyperplasia (BPH), also known as “Enlarged Prostate”, becomes increasingly common as men advance in age. Although BPH is not usually diagnosed in men under 40, more than 50 percent of men in their sixties and close to 90 percent of men over the age of 70 have symptoms of BPH.

Contemporary medicine makes use of two general types of medicines to manage this condition:

The primary action of the first type is to shrink the prostate gland over time and improve urinary symptoms. These include drugs such as Proscar (Finasteride) and Avodart (Dutasterid). Despite their benefits, they are well known to have very unpleasant side effects: diminished libido (sex drive), reduced volume of semen produced during sex, impotence (the inability to obtain and maintain an erection), tenderness and growth of the breast, allergic reactions such as itching, rash and hives and swelling of the face or lips are just a few.

The second type of medications such as Flomax (Tamsulosin), Cardura (Doxazosin), Hytrin (Terazosin) and others do not affect the prostate size at all. These drugs merely alleviate symptoms of urinary retention in the short term. Some of the known side effects of these medications are dizziness, fainting, sudden drops in blood pressure, abnormal ejaculation and a series of other undesired conditions.

These drugs are not the only alternative. There are a number of natural compounds that have been shown to maintain the healthy function of the prostate gland with no significant side effects.

Complex Highlights:
Advanced Natural Prostate formula is made from scientifically proven nutrients shown to protect the prostate gland and support its healthy physiological function. The formula contains multiple compounds:

The latest ingredient to be added to the formula is a patented form of the Boswellia plant extract named 5-Loxin®. Multiple studies have shown that aging and an unhealthy diet helps increase the level of the harmful enzyme 5-lipoxygenase. This enzyme has detrimental effects on many types of cells, prostate cells in particular. 5-Loxin® has demonstrated an ability to suppress 5-lipoxygenase ( also known as 5-LOX) and other factors that cause the type of deleterious inflammation that is damaging to a variety of cells and tissues all through the body.

Saw palmetto has been used in Europe for a long time to treat an enlarged prostate (BPH). Some of the mechanisms of action include an anti-inflammatory effect, the blockade of the transformation of testosterone to DHT-dihydrotestosterone (helps maintain a normal size range for the prostate) and the inhibition of the alpha adrenergic receptors that support healthy urinary flow.

Nettle root extract (also known as Urtica dioica) helps defend prostate cells from estrogen hormones. Estrogens are female hormones normally present in small amounts in the male body. In aging and overweight men, however, the concentration of estrogens increases, putting the prostate gland at increased risk.

Pygeum (also known as Pygeum africanum or Prunus Africana) helps reduce the incidence of an enlarged prostate in several ways. It acts, primarily, to reduce abnormal excitability of the urinary bladder muscle, while it bolsters estrogen blocking effects, suppresses the pathological proliferation of fibroblasts in the prostate gland, and raises the physiological secretions of the prostate, thereby reducing irritation in the urethra.

A number of double-blind controlled studies that tested the effectiveness of beta-sitosterol for the symptoms of BPH, demonstrated that beta-sitosterol considerably decreased symptoms of enlarged prostate and improved the urinary flow measured in the study participants.

Cernitin is a rye pollen extract. In Europe it has been used for a long time as a treatment for prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate gland). Cernitin may prevent the abnormal growth of prostate tissue by blocking the testosterone-DHT transformation. It may also relax the urethra to maintain normal urinary flow.

Studies have demonstrated that men who consumed higher levels of boron were significantly less likely to have prostate cancer compared to individuals who consumed lesser amounts of the element. The mechanism of this effect is not completely understood, however animal studies suggest that it is related to the positive action of boric acid.

Lycopene is a potent antioxidant found in vast quantities in tomatoes. In a study of prostate cancer, scientists evaluated the relationship between Lycopene concentrations in the blood and the risk of this cancer. They found that the risk of contracting prostate cancer goes down as the concentration if Lycopene goes up.

The Advanced Natural Prostate formula supplies pharmaceutical grade, standardized extracts that have been proven by multiple studies to support and maintain healthy prostate function. This formula provides a broad range of supplements to counteract the multiple aggressive factors responsible for the development of an enlarged prostate.
